Launches Data Catalogue to Enhance Research Collaboration

The PREDICTOM project has launched a new data catalogue aimed at making its research datasets more accessible to the wider scientific community.

The Data Catalogue is designed with the FAIR-principles in mind – Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.

PREDICTOM will promote openness and collaboration in scientific research by providing a transparent and user-friendly way for researchers to discover and utilize valuable data.

– The main goal of the catalogue is to make our datasets FAIR. By making these datasets accessible, we hope to enable other researchers to explore the data and build upon it. This can lead to further discoveries and foster a collaborative research environment, says Sathvik Guru Rao, the lead developer.

The catalogue provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of data collected throughout the PREDICTOM project. It not only highlights the datasets but also offers a clear pathway for researchers to reach out to the data providers. This ensures that others can access the data after any necessary embargo periods.

– In future updates, we plan to introduce features like data exploration tools, which will allow users to interact with and analyze the data directly within the platform. These updates are planned for the final stages of the project, Rao adds.

Advancing Open Science

Holger Fröhlich, who initiated the development of the catalogue, stresses the broader impact of this tool.

– We created the Data Catalogue to ensure that the valuable data generated within our consortium is accessible to other researchers. Data is increasingly recognized as a driving force for scientific progress. If it’s not visible or available to the community, its potential impact is greatly limited, he says.

Fröhlich also emphasizes that the catalogue aligns with open science policies requested by the European Union and IHI.

– We encourage the widespread use of data, especially given the high costs involved in generating it. This catalogue helps ensure that the data we produce is not only available but also reusable, promoting greater transparency in research.

Promoting Awareness and Engagement

To promote the Data Catalogue, the PREDICTOM team plans to raise awareness through social media channels, such as LinkedIn, and engage with the scientific community to encourage usage of the platform.

With this launch, PREDICTOM is taking a major step towards open science by ensuring that its data is widely available, helping to advance research in related fields and enabling new discoveries. The Data Catalogue stands as an important resource for fostering collaboration and maximizing the scientific value of the project’s findings.

👁️‍🗨️Eyes on the Future: How Eye-Tracking Could Transform Early Dementia Detection

Eye-tracking technology is emerging as a promising tool for early detection of cognitive decline. By analyzing involuntary eye movements, researchers can identify subtle cognitive and attentional changes that may accompany the earliest stages of mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease — sometimes before these changes are evident on traditional paper-based tests. This article explores the science, clinical applications, and innovations driving this breakthrough.
